Stay Housed LA will hold an online workshop on tenant protections in Los Angeles County on Wed., Oct. 7, at 3 p.m.
The event aims to empower tenants to take control of their housing situation before facing eviction by teaching them how to protect their homes, respond to eviction threats, and assert their rights, according to organizers.
At the end of the workshop, an attorney will be available for a question-and-answer session, allowing the public to ask legal questions.
Stay Housed LA is a collaboration between Los Angeles County, the City of Los Angeles, and local community and legal service providers. The Koreatown Immigrant Workers Alliance, KIWA, and the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, LAFLA, both Stay Housed LA partners, will co-present the workshop.
A MULTILINGUAL PRESENTATION
The presentation will be conducted in English, Spanish and Korean.
Individuals interested in attending the event can register to receive information about the virtual workshop, which will take place on the videoconference application Zoom. Participants can also join by phone.
This workshop is intended for tenants residing in Los Angeles County, outside the City of Los Angeles. Those who have received Summons & Complaint-Unlawful Detainers are encouraged to apply for free legal services at Stay Housed LA. Those to documents are the official legal documents that start a formal court-ordered eviction lawsuit, according to the state website California Courts Self-Help Guide.

The Koreatown Immigrant Workers Alliance is a community organization that mobilizes immigrant workers and tenants to strengthen their collective power and enhance conditions in low-wage industries and low-income neighborhoods.
The Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles is a nonprofit law firm that advocates for the rights of underserved individuals and equal access to the justice system throughout Greater Los Angeles.
